Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez will return for another season after making history as Hulu’s most-watched original comedy series.
After wrapping up Season 3 with, you guessed it, another murder, Hulu has excitingly confirmed the renewal of Only Murders in the Building for another season. This thrilling comedy-drama has already become Hulu’s top-viewed series, soaring to ninth place in Nielsen’s weekly rankings upon its launch and steadily securing sixth place in the weeks that followed.
Spoiler alert: Season three left the audience in shock with the revelation that the producer Cliff (Wesley Taylor) was the one who murdered Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd), but not before his fellow producer and mother, Donna (Linda Edmond), attempted to poison Ben just before the show’s opening night.
And as if that’s not enough, in the final moments of the season finale, the plot thickens as Sazz (Jane Lynch) is seen collapsing on the floor after being shot through the window. Before the credits roll, she desperately tries to write something using the blood from her chest.
Here’s What We Know So Far About ‘Only Murders in the Building’ Season 4
In case you’re not familiar, Only Murders in the Building is a comedy-drama series starring Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short as neighbors in New York City who, united by their love of true crime, team up to create a podcast about the murders taking place in their own building. As they delve into the mysteries, they uncover not only the truth about the crimes but also the secrets they’ve been hiding from each other, all while realizing that a killer might be closer than they think.
For its outstanding premise, Only Murders in the Building has already won three Emmys, including Outstanding Guest Actor, won by Nathan Lane. The third season has dominated the charts, boasting Meryl Streep’s award-winning talent as Loretta Durkin, Glenroy’s co-star. The trio takes on the case of Ben Glenroy, a celebrated actor whose life ends tragically on the opening night of his Broadway debut.
Right now, fans are currently speculating about how this dramatic turn of events might impact the relationships and dynamics among the main characters as they continue their journey to unravel more mysteries within their building.
It’s interesting to mention that Steve Martin, who not only portrays Charles-Haden Savage but also collaborates with John Hoffman as the co-creator of the show, leads a talented team of executive producers, including Selena Gomez, Dan Fogelman, and Jess Rosenthal. This powerhouse team is undoubtedly contributing to the show’s success and its ability to keep viewers eagerly anticipating what comes next.
In the words of Hoffman: “All of the anxieties and all of the funny stresses are there to exemplify that thing we can all understand and connect to when you want something so badly. You feel like, ‘This is what I’m meant to do.’ How far would you go? That’s the question right off the top of the season: how far would you go to hold onto it?”
It’s certainly intriguing to see how the show will navigate its thrilling narrative twist. While the release date of the fourth season has not yet been set, you can stream the Season 3 finale—or rewatch all Seasons for some fun and thrill—on Hulu or Disney+ right now!
