“I see this partnership as an opportunity to connect with my fans in a new way.â€
And it’s finally out. Even on their hiatus, the members of the groundbreaking band BTS remain a hot topic worldwide—particularly now that they are pursuing their artistic endeavors. Army all around the world is always up for anything that the boys are into.
Most recently, BTS fans couldn’t help but get all excited as Calvin Klein officially named Jungkook as its newest global brand ambassador for Calvin Klein Jeans and Underwear. After the high-end luxury brand released a teaser video on March 27, introducing a partnership with its newest ambassador, fans could not help but notice the similarity of the face in the video to that of Jungkook. In an instant, rumors spread like wildfire, and people began to look forward to the official announcement made by the brand.
True enough, the day after, the renowned American fashion brand unveiled its latest campaign, featuring Jungkook in shots by Park Jong-ha. In the 30-second clip released, the BTS member is seen lounging in an array of Calvin Klein pieces with Zayde Wølf’s King playing in the background. But fitting to its lyrics, a particular scene is highlighted where Jungkook stares at the camera as the song goes: ‘It’s good to be a king.’
Aside from the clip, additional images featuring Jungkook modeling pieces from Calvin Klein’s Spring 2023 Collection were also released, including a photo of him shirtless and only wearing an oversized denim jacket.
In a press release, Jungkook shared his excitement about the partnership. “I have been a fan of Calvin Klein for a long time, and I’m thrilled to be their newest global ambassador.†He emphasized how he wanted to connect even more with his fans by showing a different side of himself. “My music is how I communicate with my fans around the world, and I see this partnership as an opportunity to connect with them in a new way. I’m incredibly excited for people to see a new side of me in this first campaign for the brand.â€
Calvin Klein expressed its delight in having the K-pop sensation. As the brand’s Global Chief Marketing Officer Jonathan Bottomley puts it: “We pride ourselves on identifying globally relevant talent whose cultural impact and values alight with our own. Jungkook is one of the world’s most popular artists. He possesses a rare ability to connect with international audiences through both his music and style. We’re fortunate and excited to have him join the Calvin Klein team.â€
Prior to Jungkook, the luxury brand also partnered with other K-pop stars, like Jennie of BLACKPINK. Now, the K-pop singer joins the list of Calvin Klein models who have made an impact worldwide, including Michael B. Jordan, FKA twigs, Kendall Jenner, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
Jungkook’s recent collaboration with Calvin Klein follows the partnerships his BTS bandmates have made with other high-end brands, including that of Suga with Valentino, Jimin with Dior and Tiffany & Co., and J-Hope’s Louis Vuitton. Aside from creating their path, the members are also expected to enlist in South Korea’s mandatory military service as part of their hiatus. Jimin and J-Hope have already enlisted, and the rest are expected to follow suit. As the youngest member of the group, Jungkook may potentially be the last to enlist.
