Blackjacks, are your hearts ready?
You know what happens when you keep holding on to your dreams? Sometimes, the universe conspires to make them happen. Longtime 2NE1 fans are still in a daze after YG Entertainment founder and executive producer Yang Hyun Suk announced: 2NE1 is officially back!
The news was confirmed late Sunday night, causing a frenzy among fans. This year marks the group’s fifteenth anniversary since their iconic debut—and this October, the legendary girl group is set to reunite for their much-anticipated global tour, kicking off in Seoul.
2NE1 is Back!
Rumors about the group’s reunion began last May when leader CL had a “secret meeting†with a YG Entertainment executive. While it was initially reported as unofficial, fans worldwide began hoping for some good news, eagerly anticipating that the groundbreaking second-gen K-pop girl group would reunite.
Known for their trailblazing music style and fashion statements, 2NE1 garnered multiple awards, leaving an indelible mark on the Korean entertainment industry. CL, Dara, Bom, and Minzy literally took the world by storm with their hits I am the Best, Fire, I Don’t Care, and Lollipop, to name a few.
Unfortunately, the group went on hiatus in 2015, with each member pursuing solo ventures. Shortly after, Minzy announced her departure, and a year later, YG announced the group’s disbandment with their final single, Goodbye.
But Blackjacks remained faithful, hoping for their return. And such was rewarded when all members reunited in 2022, performing I Am the Best in a surprise reunion at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. This performance shocked the world, with several publications naming it one of the year’s best and placing it among the biggest pop culture moments of the year.
Now, on their 15th anniversary, celebrated last May, Yang Hyun Suk shared: “We caught up and happily discussed making it all happen within this year. I think this concert will be quite special; It resonates with those who grew up with 2NE1’s music.â€
Apart from 2NE1’s comeback, Yang also hinted that 2025 would be YG Entertainment’s biggest year, with the highly anticipated return of global superstars BLACKPINK and Babymonster’s upcoming world tour.
While details of other concert venues and dates are still under wraps—Seoul, Osaka, and Tokyo are announced for October, November, and December—Blackjacks around the world are already gearing up for this much-anticipated comeback.
