Watchlist: The Most Awaited K-dramas of 2023

January 10, 2023

January 10, 2023

Sharing is caring!

Make sure to finish watching all those Korean dramas on your watchlist now because new K-drama series will be making waves in 2023.

Aside from Netflix, other streaming giants like Disney+ and Apple TV are now flooded with K-drama content. This goes to show how the world has slowly been taken over by the Korean wave.

No complaints, though. With spectacular cinematography, brilliant characterization, and unexpected plots, there’s no reason why people will succumb into the K-drama hype. This year, All of Us Are Dead, Connect, Ghost Doctor, Twenty-Five Twenty-One, Extraordinary Attorney Woo, and Alchemy of Souls made a massive impact on the viewing experience of many people who tend to find entertainment and relaxation after a long, tiring day.

Here Are the Most-Anticipated Korean Dramas of 2023

In 2023, South Korean networks have already provided a tease of the K-drama slated to be released. Here are some of the most anticipated Korean dramas of 2023.

  1. Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadows

The sequel to the most talked about Korean drama of 2022 has been released early in December of this year. Starting the year right, the 10-episode series is scheduled to end on January 8, 2023.

The second season follows what happened after the tragic ends of Jang Uk and Mu Deok after Jin Mu transferred energy into Mu Deok’s body, which caused her to run wild. Staying true to his promise, Jang Uk stabbed the love of his life when she began to cause havoc.

With her contract with Blossom Entertainment expiring, Jung So Min is not returning in Season 2. This means that the story has to carry on without Mu Deok. While there were notions among the fans prior to the release of Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadows, the series seems to have lasting magical effects on its viewers as it continues to gain high ratings despite the change of lead.

  1. A Time Called You

A remake of the popular 2019 Taiwanese drama Someday or One Day, this upcoming K-drama series follows the story of Han Jun-Hee (portrayed by Jeon Yeo-Been), who’s grieving for her boyfriend’s death. For some inexplicable reasons, she was able to travel back in time and live as a high schooler named Kwon Min-joo in 1998. There, she meets Nam Si-Heon (Ahn Hyo-Seop), who, for some reason, resembles her late boyfriend.

  1. Mask Girl
Mask Girl

Based on the popular webtoon Mask Girl, this Netflix thriller is produced specifically for adult viewers. The story follows the double life of Kim Mo-Mi (portrayed by Go Hyung-Jung), who works as an ordinary office worker by day and hosts a live broadcasting platform while wearing a mask and flaunting her attractive body to her audience at night. Unfortunately, her co-worker, Joo-Oh Nam (portrayed by Ahn Jae-Hong), discovers her identity and develops feelings for her. While this may seem like a romantic drama, the story goes twisted and takes a dark turn when Joo-Oh suddenly goes missing and his mother risks everything to find him.

  1. Vigilante
Vigilante

Another live-action based on a webtoon, Vigilante is a crime and action K-drama to be released on Disney+ that follows the story of the former student of the police academy, Kim Ji-Yong (portrayed by Nam Joo-Hyuk). Navigating through the dark world of trying to solve the homicide case of his own mother, he vows to take revenge and seek justice by his own means. In the process, he became a fugitive hunted by the Metropolitan Investigation Unit Team as he formed a secret organization that aims to kill lawbreakers.

  1. Moving
Mvoving Kdrama

Another action drama worth adding to your watchlist this 2023 is the superhero series based on a web series that is directed by Park In-jae. This Disney+ original will ultimately give you the break that you have been waiting for. Taking you into a fantasy world where families are gifted with supernatural powers, the K-drama series starring Zo In-Sung, Han Hyo-Joo, Kim Sung-Kyun, Go Yoon-jung, Kim Do-hoon, and Ryu Seung-ryong will allow you to widen your horizons as you get to empathize with teenagers who try to hide their superpowers from people, and at the same time get emotionally attached to parents who are trying to leave behind their painful past.Aside from these originals, there are a number of K-drama series that are making a comeback in 2023 for their second seasons. This includes The Uncanny Encounter 2 and D.P 2. Don’t forget to add these K-drama series to your watchlist and get ready to laugh, cry, get angry, and learn new lessons with your favorite K-drama stars!
