This feature is soon to roll out globally. Are you ready to meet the parents?
Introducing your partner to your family can be quite challenging, especially in a typical Asian household where values and traditions run deep. It’s not just a simple “meet the parents” situation—more like navigating a complex dance between tradition and modernity.
Well, here’s Tinder to the rescue! Just recently, the popular dating app launched a feature called ‘Matchmaker’—yes, like the traditional role of a matchmaker, but with a modern twist. This exciting addition is set to redefine how you approach online dating, as it allows your friends and family to have a say in your matches.
Wait, What?! Tinder Matchmaker Allows Friends and Family to Approve Prospective Matches?
Dating in this digital age has undeniably transformed the way we connect with potential partners. With the proliferation of dating apps and websites, it’s easier than ever to meet people and explore romantic possibilities.
However, online dating also comes with challenges and uncertainties. Amid the excitement of virtual dating, many singles find themselves questioning the authenticity of the connections they make online. That’s where Tinder’s innovative ‘Matchmaker’ feature steps in to bridge the gap between the digital and real-world aspects of dating.
In this new feature, your friends and family can show their approval for potential matches. How does it work? Well, Tinder users can now invite anyone, even if they don’t have a Tinder profile, to view and suggest potential matches. It’s still their choice whether to swipe on the profile, but these suggestions might help find a good match from their perspective.
As Tinder Chief Marketing Officer Melissa Hobley puts it: “Tinder Matchmaker brings your circle of trust into your dating journey and helps you see the possibilities you might be overlooking from the perspective of those closest to you.”
In a recent study, Tinder found that 75% of singles actually talk about their dating life with friends regularly. In response to this insight, the app has provided a step-by-step guide on how to involve those close to you in your dating experience.
- To start with, users can initiate a Tinder Matchmaker session from a profile card or within app settings, sharing their link with up to 15 friends within 24 hours.
- After following the link, the matchmaker can opt to log in to Tinder or remain as a guest and have 24 hours to play Cupid, where they can recommend profiles for the Tinder user but won’t be able to chat or send messages on their behalf.
- Once the session expires, Tinder users can have the opportunity to review the profiles their matchmakers suggested for them.
- Tinder users then make the final call—now knowing who their friends or family members root for.
Exciting, right? For now, this feature is available in 15 countries, including the United Kingdom, United States, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, and Vietnam. However, it’s poised to go global in the coming months. Are you ready to explore these exciting suggestions and let your loved ones play a role in your dating journey?
