Sharing is caring!

Pedro Alonso reprises his role as La Casa de Papel’s most beloved character – with new gang members in the prequel.

At the press conference in Madrid, the casts of Money Heist Berlin have been revealed alongside the announcement that the series has already started its production. After the release of the final season of the groundbreaking heist drama last December 2021, hints of a spinoff have been going around, igniting once again the craving of the fans for more action, more cunning plot twists, and more ambitious execution of plans.

The production begins on October 3 in Paris, with shooting expanding from the French capital to Madrid weeks after. During the press conference, the iconic lead character who plays Berlin, Pedro Alonso shared the script of how the eight-episode series would begin: “There are only ten things that can turn a terrible day into a wonderful one. The first love. And the truth, that wasn’t the case. My third wife had just left me… The second is a spoil of more than ten million euros. But it wasn’t the case either. We were going to steal the link to a much bigger heist, today’s was easy. But if you have a bad day, you can end up bringing a miserable man to his knees and aiming for his head.”

Seeing how sparkling Berlin’s character was, creators Esther Martínez Lobato and Álex Pina shared how they loved the idea of introducing a new gang around Berlin in a completely different emotional state. The series is written by David Oliva, David Berrocal, Esther Martínez Lobato, and Álex Pina and will be directed by Albert Pintó, David Barrocal, and Geoffrey Cowper.

Pedro Alonso returns to his titular role, the hedonistic and clever, Berlin. In this spinoff, he is working together with new cast members: Michelle Jenner who plays Keila, an eminence in electronic engineering; Tristán Ulloa who goes into the skin of Damián, a philanthropic professor and Berlin’s confidante; Begoña Vargas plays Cameron, a kamikaze who constantly lives on the edge; Julio Peña Fernández brings to life Roi, Berlin’s faithful squire; and Joel Sánchez plays Bruce, the relentless man of action in the gang.

The Money Heist spin-off Berlin is now in its early production and is set to be released sometime next year. Recently, the world’s leading streaming entertainment service with 221 million paid memberships in over 190 countries, Netflix, dropped the Korean rendition of the hit Spanish heist drama. While there’s no official announcement yet, many are already hoping for the possibility of an additional six-episodes release for Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area.

Are you excited about Berlin’s backstory? Keep posted for new updates!
