Sharing is caring!

In a groundbreaking move, KENZO is set to release the first edition of their highly anticipated sneaker series designed by Artistic Director Nigo. This bold step marks the brand’s entry into uncharted sportswear territory. Launching in June 2023, the “KENZO-Dome” is a minimalist cupsole sneaker that pays homage to the skateboarding culture of the mid-1990s. With its captivating design and nod to Parisian skateboarding landmarks, this collection is bound to resonate with Generation Z.

A Nostalgic Tribute to Skating Heritage

The name “KENZO-Dome” holds significant meaning as it honors the iconic skate spot located at the Palais de Tokyo – the DOME, an internationally recognized Parisian skateboarding landmark. Drawing inspiration from the volume aesthetics of 90s sneakers, the KENZO-Dome captures the essence of that era with its flat outsole and puffed-up tongue.

Craftsmanship and Style

Crafted to perfection, the KENZO-Dome sneaker is available in two materials: classic skateboarding suede, known for its resilience and flexibility, and grained leather, adding a touch of sophistication. The Napa leather-padded tongue proudly displays the “KENZO Paris” rubber logo, while the back of the shoe also features this distinctive branding. The side of the outsole showcases an engraved “KENZO” logo, designed to enhance the skater’s balance. The retro-inspired lining provides a soft feel, and the padded collar ensures added comfort during wear.

An Array of Colorways

The KENZO-Dome collection offers a diverse range of color options, both timeless and seasonal. For both men and women, the beige and pink suede editions feature a tan rubber outsole, while the black suede variation boasts a black outsole with tan rubber detailing. Completing the lineup is a white-grained leather version with a matching white outsole, adding a touch of elegance to this skater-inspired range.

A Fusion of Skater Culture and High Fashion

In a captivating campaign shot at the renowned skate spot that inspired its name, KENZO-Dome strikes a balance between authentic skater culture and KENZO’s high-fashion approach. Captured by the talented photographer Frank Lebon, the images feature a group of friends skateboarding, evoking a sense of camaraderie reminiscent of the 90s era. This campaign resonates with Generation Z’s desire for authenticity and cultural connections.

Exciting news for sneaker enthusiasts – the KENZO-Dome sneaker collection will be available exclusively in KENZO APAC stores starting from June 2023. Stay tuned for further updates as the brand will announce the second drop of the KENZO by Nigo debut sneaker series later in the season.

With the release of the KENZO-Dome sneaker collection, KENZO embraces the skater spirit of the mid-1990s, infusing it with their high-fashion approach. This distinctive range captures the attention of Generation Z with its nostalgic design, exceptional craftsmanship, and a fusion of authentic skater culture. The KENZO-Dome collection is set to make a lasting impact in the world of streetwear, resonating with those seeking a unique blend of style and heritage.
