The two South Korean music icons are captured in a ‘place that can’t be reached with poor imagination’.
The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here! After the exciting announcement about V from BTS joining IU in her upcoming music video last December, the acclaimed Korean singer-songwriter and actress has just released the official poster featuring the two of them on her social media accounts.
Scheduled for release on January 24, the highly anticipated single from Lee Ji-Eun, popularly known as IU, is teased with a captivating monochrome photo. In the image, IU and V of BTS are seated across from each other as if sharing a dinner. Kim Tae-hyung is deeply gazing at IU, who is holding a camera and capturing moments with the BTS member.
What We Know So Far About IU’s ‘Love Wins’
In December of last year, IU’s agency, EDAM Entertainment, officially announced the completion of filming for IU’s upcoming music video, featuring the collaboration with V of BTS. This comeback marks IU’s return after a two-year hiatus since the release of her album Pieces in 2021. “IU completed filming her music video with BTS’s V, and her album is being prepared with the aim to be released in the first half.”
Known for her songs Lilac, Bbibbi, Strawberry Moon, Celebrity, and Blueming, IU has been gracing her fans with an unforgettable concert experience since she kicked off her tour, which was aptly titled The Golden Hour: Under the Orange Sun. In her December 2023 vlog, she revealed that she wanted to ‘express new things and many different things’ in her upcoming album.
Before dropping the official poster with BTS’s V, IU shared a sneak peek of Love Wins in a teaser clip, which features a close-up of her left eye shedding a tear and then slowly zooming in to reveal the song’s title and release date. Adding to the excitement, IU joined TikTok as part of her promotional strategy.
As of this moment, both ARMY and Uaenas are getting all excited about this collaboration. In case you don’t know, this is not the first time that IU has collaborated with the ground-breaking South Korean boy group. Most recently, she teamed up with Suga for the track People Pt.2, which was featured on Agust D’s debut solo album, D-Day. This marks their second collaboration after IU’s 2020 single, eight.
Furthermore, IU also made an appearance on Suga’s talk show, Suchwita, last year—the same way that Suga guested on IU’s talk show, IU’s Palette. She has also welcomed BTS V and J-Hope on the same show.
With V and fellow BTS members RM, Jimin, and Jungkook gearing up for their military enlistments, IU’s upcoming single offers a poignant moment for fans to cherish. As they embark on individual paths, this musical collaboration is a testament to their friendship, providing a fitting and emotional send-off for fans to hold onto during the group’s hiatus.
Don’t miss the release of IU’s upcoming album. Mark your calendar. That’s January 24 at 6 p.m. KST!
