KTH1 is finally due this September!
Following Suga’s emotional concert and unexpected announcement of military enlistment, BTS Army is in for a much-unanticipated turn of events: BIGHIT MUSIC unveiling the upcoming launch of Kim Taehyung’s inaugural solo album titled Layover.
Since the commencement of the group’s solo project endeavor, BTS fans have been anticipating the release of V’s album, connoting the project as KTH1, which was coined from the artist’s initials. On August 6, after years of waiting, the last member of the groundbreaking South Korean group finally dropped his solo debut album.
What We Know So Far About BTS V’s Solo Album ‘Layover’
After releasing a sneak peek of V’s first solo album, a 17-second video was released by BIG HIT Entertainment, showcasing a series of packages that reveal a clever check mark writing “Vâ€. Slated to drop on September 8, the highly anticipated debut album features five tracks, namely Rainy Days, Blue, Love Me Again, Slow Dancing, For Us, and a bonus piano version of Slow Dancing.
As recommended by BIGHIT, to fully appreciate the album’s flow, fans are to listen to the tracks in sequence. The album starts with V’s voice melding beautifully with the sound of rain and everyday white noises on Rainy Days. It is followed by an old-school R&B homage, Blue, and then a captivating R&B track with V’s signature baritone in Love Me Again.
The focus track of this album is the ‘70s romantic soul style track that exudes a laid-back and free-spirited feeling, titled Slow Dancing, which also comes in a piano arrangement as a bonus track. Lastly, leaving a lasting impression on the entire album, is the emotionally evocative epilogue, For Us, where V’s distinctive vocals and poignant lyrics combine to leave an indelible mark on the listener’s heart.
For this project, BIG HIT had already revealed that the overall production and promotion of V’s Layover album was spearheaded by NewJeans’ creative producer and sub-label ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin. As per the South Korean art director and graphic designer: “I was intrigued by V’s attitude and passion as well as his voice tone, which I wasn’t familiar with. We prepared music that reflects V’s preferences. Rather than a familiar style, we placed focus on music that we want to make and music that we can pull off well. We were terribly busy, but I think an interesting production emerged.â€
While this may not be his first solo venture, as he has already produced chart-topping tracks, such as K-drama OSTs Christmas Tree and Sweet Night, as well as Singularity and Inner Child, Kim Taehyung can’t help but feel nervous but happy with the release of his album. “It’s an album that captures my tastes. There will be abundant spectacles. I prepared while thinking that ARMY would be happy, so I hope you can anticipate it. I think you will be able to see a new side of solo artist V that is different from BTS’ V.â€
All five tracks come with a music video that is scheduled for release as well. Stay tuned for more updates, and don’t forget to take note of the release date—that’s September 8. You can also preorder now!  Â
