A Quick Look Back on the Life of Carrie Fisher
Carrie Fisher is best remembered for her role as Princess Leia in the first three original Star Wars movies. She died in 2016, at the age of 60, after suffering from a heart attack.
Making her debut in 1975’s Shampoo, Carrie Fisher rose to fame with her iconic portrayal of Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise—which spanned nearly 40 years. Additionally, she showcased her acting chops in several other notable films, such as When Harry Met Sally, Hannah and Her Sisters, and The Blues Brothers. Fisher’s versatility extended to television as well, earning her three Emmy nominations for her outstanding performances in shows like Family Guy, Catastrophe, Sex and the City, 30 Rock, and Laverne & Shirley.
Outside the galaxy far, far away, Fisher is a celebrated author with bestselling novels such as Postcards from the Edge, Delusions of Grandma, Surrender the Pink, The Best Awful, Wishful Drinking, and Shockaholic.
According to the Walk of Fame, Fisher will posthumously receive the 2,754th star on the Walk of Fame near the historic El Capital Theater on Hollywood Boulevard. In this essence, together with her fans, we take a pause and remember the fearless spirit she embodied, the courage she showed on and off-screen, and how she empowered women to embrace the rebellion within and to take the courage to fight for what is right.
The only daughter of Carrie Fisher and Bryan Lourd, American actress Billie Lourd, who starred in American Horror Story and also appeared in the Star Wars franchise (portraying the role of Lieutenant Connix beginning with The Force Awakens), will be receiving the star on her mother’s behalf.
