The American singer took to Instagram about their health struggles following the release of the new song ‘The End.’
A day after releasing the emotional track, The End, the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter revealed they had been diagnosed with a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder and Lupus SLE—a chronic autoimmune disease where the body’s immune system attacks its own healthy tissues, causing inflammation that can affect the skin, joints, heart, lungs, kidneys, blood cells, and brain.
In a long post, Halsey penned: “Thank you, guys, for the unbelievable amount of love for “The End” and the support you’ve shown me since its release. I realize everyone is catching up with news I’ve held in for a very long time, and I wasn’t sure how much I wanted to share. You’ve all been so kind, so I want to share a bit more.”

The Without Me singer shared that they were first diagnosed in 2022. Despite a ‘rocky start,’ they gradually got their health under control with their doctors’ help. “After 2 years, I’m feeling better and I’m more grateful than ever to have music to turn to. I can’t wait to get back where I belong: With you all Singing and screaming my heart out.”
Early this week, Halsey posted a carousel of photos and videos of their medical treatment and recording sessions, coinciding with the release of The End. They captioned the post: “Long story short, I’m lucky to be alive. Short story long, I wrote an album. It begins with ‘The End.’ Out now.” Tagging The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Lupus Research Alliance, Halsey announced that the proceeds from The End will be donated to these nonprofit organizations.
Previously, Halsey had disclosed dealing with various autoimmune issues for most of their life. However, the birth of their son Ender in 2021, shared with ex Alev Aydin, exacerbated these issues, leading to additional diagnoses of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, mast cell activation syndrome, and Sjögren’s syndrome. Despite these challenges, Halsey considers Ender’s birth a “rare and euphoric” experience and has been inspired to continue making music throughout their numerous doctor’s appointments.
Known for their collaboration with The Chainsmokers on the hit summer song Closer, Halsey has made waves in the industry with projects like BTS’ Boy with Luv and Khalid and Benny Blanco’s Eastside. This time, their new song is produced by singer-songwriters Michael Uzowuru and Alex G.
In touch with their emotions, the outro of The End includes the lyrics: “When I met you, I said I would never die / But the joke was always mine ‘cause I’m racing against time / And I know it’s not the end of the world, but could you pick me up at 8? / ‘Cause my treatment starts today.”
