Psy and Megan Thee Stallion to Star in Apple TV+’s K-pop Battle Series

Sharing is caring!

Apple TV+ is bringing the heat with a new K-pop competition show set in Seoul, starring none other than Gangnam Style superstar Psy and Grammy-winning rap queen Megan Thee Stallion.

Here’s the thing with music: it’s universal. It crosses borders, cultures, and languages. And in the streaming era, we’ve seen some of the wildest, most unexpected collabs between artists from completely different worlds. Some became we can’t help but get LSS to, others won Grammys, and a few even changed the game.

Now, Apple TV+ is taking things up a notch with KPOPPED, a brand-new music competition series dropping in 2025. And trust us, the lineup is insane. Leading the charge? None other than three-time Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion and the legend who put K-pop on the global map—Gangnam Style hitmaker Psy.

Here’s What We Know So Far About the Newest Music Competition Series ‘KPOPPED’

So, what’s KPOPPED all about? As per the show’s official description: “In each episode, western icons reimagine one of their biggest hits, collaborating with top-tier K-pop idols to deliver spectacular battle performances, with a live Seoul-based audience picking the winner of the best new K-popped song.”

And if that wasn’t enough star power, music icon Lionel Richie is stepping in as executive producer. Bringing in his experience as American Idol judge, he’s teaming up with heavy hitters like Miky Lee, Greg Foster, and Moira Ross. Megan Thee Stallion is also pulling double duty—executive producing while bringing her smash hit Savage to the stage. Psy, no stranger to the reality TV scene, adds his expertise after working on shows like Heroes of Remix and Loud.

KPOPPED marks one of Apple TV+’s boldest moves yet into the unscripted competition space. The streamer previously tested the waters with My Kind of Country (a 2023 country music talent show co-created by Reese Witherspoon and Kacey Musgraves) and the 2024 docuseries K-pop Idols, which followed acts like Blackswan, Cravity, and soloist Jessi. While there’s no official release date yet, anticipation is already through the roof. With K-pop’s global influence only growing stronger, KPOPPED is set to be a high-energy, genre-blending spectacle that brings together the best of East and West. Stay tuned—this is one music showdown you won’t want to miss!
