This time, Nigo creates a premise that unites and transcends cultural and conventional dress codes.
Our choice of clothes speaks so much of who we are as individuals. Through fashion, we get to express our thoughts, emotions, and feelings—and even bring out the aspirations long buried deep within us. No matter how simple or stylish you want to present yourself, it’s undeniable that fashion helps us better convey ourselves to the world.
With this in mind, KENZO’s Fall-Winter 2022 Collection thereby takes inspiration from Maison’s heritage and the contemporary codes of the renowned creative director, Nigo. The authentic wardrobe in the collection was founded on a forward-thinking approach to fashion that is drawn on the idea of “Real-To-Wear”. This intends to look to the future by learning from significant experiences from the past.
“Real-To-Be” Asia Shooting Project by KENZO
KENZO Fall-Winter 2022 Capsule showcases a premise that unites and transcends cultural and conventional dress codes through tailoring and workwear expressed in largely genderless silhouettes. Trailblazing this movement towards better self-expression, KENZO features eight young musicians in the “Real-To-Be” Asia shooting project.
Highlighting the multi-faceted collection, the young musicians were encouraged to reveal their authentic selves through their devotion to music—which is identified as part of their soul and beliefs. The project includes a video shoot that documents their passion and heart for music against the iconic red KENZO billboard, thereby expressing the meaning behind the “Real” spirit, as they immerse themselves in what they are truly passionate about being “Real-to-Sing”.
The eight Asian musicians featured for KENZO’s “Real-To-Be” project included the Hong Kong-based singer-songwriter, Tyson Yoshi; Singaporean singer-songwriter Aisyah Aziz; Indonesian singer Afgan; Korean singer-songwriter BIBI; Vietnamese singer Erik; Australian-Filipino singer and record label executive/producer James Reid; Thai singer and actor Jaylerr; and Taiwan-based Australian singer-songwriter Julia Wu.
The abovementioned young musicians share a common value in life: that is to dedicate themselves to their music passion and enthusiasm, which led to their success today. Despite the fame, these musical geniuses remain genuine, authentic, and real—embodying the spirit that motivates people and souls to move towards their real passion.
To make the movement even more engaging to the younger generation, KENZO is releasing an Instagram filter called “KENZO Beret”. The launching of this filter was spearheaded by the 8 Asian musicians in the Beret Try-on virtual event, welcoming fans and KENZO supporters to follow their lead to experience and discover more in KENZO stores.
