The latest venture by the K-pop singer aims to create new things that attract attention in a different way.
Seems like 2023 is the ultimate year for the 27-year-old BLACKPINK member. After headlining Coachella, releasing her most-awaited solo material, debuting in the HBO series The Idol, and receiving the honorary Member of the Order of the British Empire, Jennie concludes the year with yet another milestone: launching her label.
On December 24, the BLACKPINK singer-rapper revealed on her Instagram page that she has founded a label called Odd Atelier (OA). The full post reads: “Hi, this is Jennie. This year was filled with many accomplishments, and I’m so thankful for all the love I’ve received. I’m also about what’s to come, as I start my solo journey in 2024 with a company that I have established called OA. Please show lots of love for my new start with OA and, of course, BLACKPINK. Thank you.â€
What We Know So Far About Jennie’s ODD ATELIER
The recently created social media account of the company quickly racked up followers—now at over a million. It released three new black-and-white photos of Jennie, with captions: “OA, which stands for ODD ATELIER, is a space that aims to create new things that attract attention in a different way from what is usual or expected. It is a label founded by artist JENNIE in November 2023.â€
Although the details disclosed by Jennie and OA are currently limited, they have undoubtedly ignited the curiosity of eager fans who were left wanting more. Nonetheless, despite the scarcity of specifics, loyal Blinks have taken to leaving encouraging messages on the label’s Instagram posts, extending heartfelt congratulations to the icon for the remarkable feat of establishing her own company.
This announcement was made after news that the iconic K-pop group BLACKPINK had renewed their contract with founding agency YG Entertainment. And by far, Jennie is the first member to have announced the establishment of her solo label, as the South Korean multinational entertainment agency clarified that it’s still negotiating the individual contracts of the members of BLACKPINK.
With her experience in the music industry and exploring other ways to express herself, such as modeling, launching an app, starting a YouTube channel, and endorsing luxury brands, the possibilities of what OA can do are boundless.
To date, BLACKPINK remains one of the most successful K-pop girl groups since their debut in 2016. While the quartet may not have released any new music in 2023, the award-winning group still became the second-most streamed K-pop act on Spotify this year.
Surely, there’s so much more to look forward to in the year 2024. Not only will we get to know more about Odd Atelier, but Jennie is also slated to star in the new variety show Apartment 404 by tvN. As a multifaceted star, she joins the ensemble cast featuring Yoo Jae-suk, Cha Tae-hyun, Lee Jung-ha, Oh Na-ra, and Yang Se-chan in unraveling diverse mysteries within their apartment building in each episode. The show promises an engaging blend of intrigue and entertainment, further adding to the excitement surrounding Jennie’s ventures in the coming year.
