The first official photos of the Russo Brothers’ upcoming espionage thriller film, The Gray Man, have just been released – revealing Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, and Regé-Jean Page’s iconic new looks.
Referred to as one of Netflix’s most expensive films, The Gray Man is finally set for release this July! The star-studded action flick is directed by the renowned Russo brothers, Anthony and Joseph, who were also behind The Avengers.
The stellar cast of the spy thriller consists of Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Dhanush, Ana de Armas, Billy Bob Thornton, Alfre Woodard, Jessica Henwick, Wagner Moura, Julia Butters, Eme Ikwuakor, Scoot Haze, and Bridgerton’s Regé-Jean Page.
Based on the book series authored by Mark Greaney which came out in 2009, the screenplay is first drafted by Joe Russo and was further modified by The Avengers’ screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFreely. Aside from its compelling cast and crew, The Gray Man was also reported to have a budget of US$200 million.
What is the story of The Gray Man?
The Gray Man depicts the story of Court Gentry (Ryan Gosling), known as ‘Gray Man’, one of the CIA’s top assets, who sets off a global manhunt after uncovering a piece of incriminating information within his agency. His bounty was made by no other than his former CIA colleague, Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans).
Under the AGBO banner, the spy thriller is produced by Joe Roth, Mike Larocca, Jeffrey Kirschenbaum, and Anthony Russo with executive producers Patrick Newall, Christopher Markus, Stephen McFeely, Jake Aust, Angela Russo-Otstot, Geoff Haley, Palak Patel, and Zack Roth.
First Look at The Gray Man
The first set of photos released by Netflix gave fans the much-needed teaser for this upcoming film. In photos, Ryan Gosling, who seemed to look perfectly good for any assassin-based project, can be seen wearing a striking red blazer while sitting in a kind of bar. Portraying the role of The Gray Man, his goal is to eliminate every target assigned to him and then disappear right after – until he became the target himself.
Sporting a sleek mustache while holding a gun in his right hand, Chris Evans was able to flawlessly match the villainous role given to him. After his run as Captain America, fans are getting more excited about how he would take on such an antagonistic role.
Apart from them, Netflix also revealed photos of CIA agent Dani Miranda (Ana de Armas) wearing a white floral-patterned blazer in what seemed to be a similar location to Court Gentry. Meanwhile, Regé-Jean Page also introduced in his social media account his character Denny Carmichael who looked so business-like while sitting in an armchair.
Netflix India’s Instagram account likewise shared a fierce photo of Dhanush, with his face slightly drenched in blook as he was crouching atop the roof of the car. This is the Hollywood debut of the Indian actor, producer, and director who’s predominantly known in Tamil cinema.
Official Release of The Gray Man
While it remains to be seen how much of the story would the film be adapting, fans are now getting all excited for the release of The Gray Man. The spy thriller is set to be available in select cinemas across the UK this coming July 15 before landing on Netflix on July 22.
