Swap your tropical summer wear for comfy coats, hats, and gloves for one month as Singapore’s Bayfront Event Space turns into a magical, snowy wonderland.
Dreaming of a white Christmas? Well, it’s time to beat the tropical heat as Apollo Entertainment Media and Trident Consultancy bring Singaporeans into a winter wonderland for this year’s most anticipated festive season. Like a dream come true, a 2,400 sqm ultimate winter playground will pop up at Bayfront Event Space for one month only this December.
Open to guests of all ages, Ice Magic: The Great Fantasy on Ice will be the biggest pop-up winter-themed attraction to have ever set foot in Singapore. It will bring real ice and snow activities to Singaporeans who are longing for a legit winter holiday. This is truly the perfect answer for those who are travel-deprived and are longing for a wintery festivity.
The indoor tentage, which stands at 11.5 meters (the tallest tent by far), will be divided into Snow and Ice sections. Here’s what to expect from this much-awaited winter destination.
Snow Section
To bring an authentic experience to visitors who are extremely excited to experience winter, organizers have brought in the same snow-making machines that were used during the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022. Over the course of twenty straight days prior to the opening, the snow machines will pump out fresh, fluffy, crystal-white snow that is even clearer than the natural snow found in four-season countries.
Fulfill your childhood dreams of building a snowman, making snow angels, and bouncing off ‘snow clouds’ while at the same time enjoying the daily snowfall of fresh snow. On top of these wonderful experiences, the area will also house a 70m snow slope, which is identified as the longest and tallest to have been ever constructed in Singapore.
Ice Section
Parallel to the Snow Section, the Ice Section also brings in a variety of attractions that have never been seen in Singapore before. This includes Ice Bowling and the classic Winter Olympic sport, Ice Curling. This part of the pop-up features a 260 sqm ice cycling rink with single and tandem bikes for couples exploring new date night plans.
One of the highlights of the Ice Section is the 4.5m high figure-8 Ice Slide, which was constructed purely out of ice and complemented by elaborate ice sculptures that were crafted by master ice sculptors who came to build their masterpieces from Harbin, China – the home of the famous Harbin Ice Festival.
Another highlight is the Ice Bar, where you will be served a variety of ice-cold beers and ice-themed cocktails to get your heart pumping through the cold. Chocolate Origin, the presenting sponsor of Ice Magic 2022: The Great Fantasy on Ice, will also be operating a pop-up café, and they will be holding a “secret-code” mini-game for visitors to win prizes with every entry.
As per the Chocolate Origin Director of Customer Relations, Dr. Shinichi Hamano: “The honor to bring Singaporeans their first experience of snow is our privilege, and we’re excited to be part of this festival.” He believes that this kind of event provides memorable experiences for the community. “We believe that Ice Magic will be a sensational and magical way for friends and family to gather and be merry this coming festive season and end 2022 with a BANG!”
Apollo Entertainment Media Chairman Mr. Guo also shared, “Ice Magic is our chance to bring winter to Singaporeans who have never had the chance to experience it for themselves. To be able to do this over the festive season is an amazing opportunity, getting to bring joy to people as they celebrate the year and it’s also a nice way to bookend the pandemic we’ve all struggled through the past years. Helping Singaporeans to experience snow for the first time ever is something we’re all looking forward to.”
Note that the Ice Magic Festival has been an iconic annual performance hosted in Beijing ever since 2009. This is strategically calendared to coincide with Beijing’s first snow every year until 2019, before the pandemic. After Singapore, Apollo Entertainment Media plans to also bring Ice Magic to more countries around the region.
Don’t miss this opportunity to experience what it’s like to have a white Christmas. Tickets to Ice Magic: The Great Fantasy on Ice are now available at www.sistic.com. Prices start at $25.
Ice Magic: The Great Fantasy on Ice is part of The Great Bay Fiesta, which is held in time with Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2023, which is presented by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA).
