The iconic looks of the ‘90s and 2000s come back to life in Dolce&Gabbana’s Spring Summer 2023 Collection.
Taking the spotlight during the Milan Fashion Week is Dolce&Gabbana’s Spring Summer 2023 Collection – which featured the 89 looks that highlight the brand’s archive. Labeled with the inscription, “Re-Edition”, some of the garments and accessories presented shows the year the garment was first presented. These are then assembled with some modern pieces to define a new and up-to-date male silhouette of the new generation.

Dolce&Gabbana’s Spring Summer Collection comes in 89 looks. Taking a closer look at the brand’s iconic designs of the past, the latest collection tells the idea of building contemporaneity from the past and a past that is also present – both charged with their own identity and uniqueness. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana recall the pivotal designs of the late ‘90s and early 2000s which have tremendously shaped the menswear of such time.
The collection’s overall look speaks of layering of garments, where the fabrics of summer (cotton and drill) take the center stage. Focus also remains on denim – and all of its possible interpretations. To provide vintage and three-dimensional effects, the aforementioned fabrics were combined with classic lace and brocade or with modern fabrics treated with innovative processing.

For this year’s Spring Summer Collection, Dolce&Gabbana placed a thorough focus on color palettes that are filled with warm nuances and neutral, dusty hues, with accents of color in details and embroideries. Particularly, crema di Ortigia, sand of Mondello, moro della Kalsa, black lava, and corredo white – the natural colors of the Sicilian land – take shape and got reread and recontextualized on the iconic garments.
About Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring Summer 2023 Menswear Collection
The Italian luxury fashion house founded in 1985 first unveiled its men’s collection in 1990 – in an age when fashion was blossoming with its creative freedom, newness, and bold experimentation. With such beginnings, Stefano and Domenico’s creations remained the source of inspiration and became the brand’s unique archival pieces for their red-carpet appearances.

According to the genius behind the collection, it was quite surprising to be asked for pieces from their late ‘90s and early 2000s collections. But seeing how the world must have seen its relevance today, they entertained such creative opportunity and began the intuitive and random process of excellent styling and re-editing the pieces together with new propositions designed with a contemporary spirit.
Despite the dynamic changes in the world of fashion, Dolce&Gabbana’s present collection presents an innovative look of the nostalgic hunky white ribbed tank top matched with no-logo underwear briefs, see-through black lace, slim-fit stretchy pantsuits topped with oversized double-breasted jackets, and tailored tux is worn on top of ripped denim – undoubtedly proving of the brand’s influence that lasted through time. As they put it, Dolce&Gabbana is one for the books.
