The award-winning Singaporean brand presents a contemporary twist on tradition as it embarks on a renewed focus on modern heirloom jewelry—and its continued growth in 2023 and beyond.
Taking inspiration from the lotus flower, one of the most significant flowers in Asian culture, Carrie K. introduces an extensive collection of modern heirloom jewelry that takes traditional Asian beliefs to create contemporary designs that tell a story.
Identified as the perfect symbol for harmony, the Lotus Collection includes the elegant motif of the flower in full bloom, which serves as the epitome of blessings—a wearable wish for harmony within oneself and with loved ones. Meticulously designed for generations that are and generations to come, Carrie K.’s Lotus collection serves as a meaningful talisman to mark new beginnings and precious milestones alike.
Carrie K’s Lotus Collection
In Mandarin, the word lotus (荷花, hé huā) sounds phonetically similar to harmony (和谐 hé xié)—making it the ideal embodiment of unity and peace across generations. As per the tradition of gifting si dian jin (四点金) from a mother to her prospective daughter-in-law, the phrase ‘si dian jin’ refers to the four items of gold or the ‘four points of the Chinese roof’ given by a mother-in-law to a bride before the wedding. This signifies the ultimate wish of the in-laws for the bride to feel welcomed under their roof as one of their own.
At the heart of the Lotus Collection, consisting of 8 pieces, is Type-A Burmese Jadeite that has been cut to custom specifications and is available in three distinct shades of green, as well as limited edition Ice and Lavender Jadeite in specially crafted designs. Additionally, the collection showcases an array of jewelry options, including necklaces, stackable rings, bracelets, bangles, and multi-way earrings, all crafted from 14k yellow and rose gold.
The Lotus Collection marks the brand’s debut in showcasing an assortment of tri-colored pastel sapphires, which come in shades of purple, pink, and green to evoke the diverse varieties and hues of the lotus flower. Additionally, AAA Grade Akoya Pearls are a prominent feature in several of the collection’s key pieces, including Lotus eardrops, necklaces, and bangles.
Like so many other pieces in Carrie K.’s repertoire, pieces in the Lotus collection were designed to be versatile and easily matched across other collections—ear jackets and ear drops that append to the main ear stud or hoop, making them infinitely wearable for both the wedding day and every day after.
Carrie K: A Renewed Focus
Carrie K.’s modern collection is crafted with the intent of commemorating life’s significant moments, be they engagements, weddings, or everyday occasions. Along with unveiling its latest collection, Carrie K. also introduces a refreshed logo and an enhanced range of services for the brand, which has just welcomed two in-house gemologists certified by the Gemological Institute of America.
The new logo prominently showcases the hexagon shape, which is often referred to as the symbol of life. This six-sided symmetrical design can be observed in various natural phenomena, such as honeycombs and the molecular structure of snowflakes. The hexagon is also a significant symbol in sacred geometry, representing life and even being observed in atoms and DNA structures. Within the hexagon is the C&K motif, embodying Carrie K.’s mission to honor the clients’ lives and love by weaving their stories into their jewelry.
Each collection crafted by Carrie K. embodies a specific wish that one can select for themselves or their loved ones. The Blessings Collection draws inspiration from the Chinese concept of “五福” (wǔ fú), meaning the “five blessings,” which represent the key blessings required for a fulfilling life: health, wealth, prosperity, longevity, and peace of mind.
The Star Collection, inspired by the star motif in Malay Songket, embodies the “Gotong Royong” or Kampung Spirit, symbolizing a desire for unity and harmonious relationships. Finally, the Lotus Collection represents a wish for harmony and conveys the message: “May you be in harmony with yourself and your loved ones.”
