The luxury fashion house’s latest drop features shots by renowned British fashion photographer David Sims.
Lensed by David Sims, LOEWE presents its latest campaign, showcasing the acting prowess of Taylor Russell clad in clothing and accessories that string a balance between the realms of reality and illusion. Taking inspiration from the brand’s surrealist nature, the setup of the collection was made glaringly visible: backdrops taped on the wall or laid on the sofa, with carpet going askew.
As if projecting a rehearsal of some sort, the setting paints an image of what it is like to take a picture. Global Brand Ambassador Taylor Russell emotionally portrays a form of acting and impersonation that breathes life into each of the clothing and accessories. These accessories work as protagonists in the still-life images, which recall classic natura morta paintings that are set against dramatic contemporary black backdrops and interspersed with antique tableware and sculptures in age-worn marble.
Reality or Illusion?
LOEWE’s SS23 Women’s Campaign prompts fashion enthusiasts to take a closer look at each piece and determine whether it is reality or an illusion. Described as the study of making a depiction of the process set in an impromptu ambiance or in limbo, the question remains deliberately unanswered.
Taylor Russell takes the inquiry to a deeper level as she demonstrates her acting prowess in front of the camera as she sits on the floor and reclines on a sofa in the company of the Paseo bag, an elegant shape in Nappa leather featuring distinctive soft pleats and threaded handles, exposing the virtues of the Goya Puffer bag.
Adding to the mystifying imagery, the shimmering metal of chandeliers and teapots creates a beautiful interplay of reflections, and distorting halos, as well as the details of the LOEWE SS23 Women’s collection that is mirrored in them—creatively presenting the Spanish luxury fashion house’s expertise.
