Great news to all book lovers out there! As part of the inaugural initiative to celebrate women’s stories and voices, visitors can now explore the wide selection of titles and get a complimentary book – with no purchase required at the Aesop Women’s Library!
The celebration of Women’s Month does not end in March. The Australian beauty brand, Aesop, continues to amplify women’s voices and stories – no matter the date and occasion – because every day should be a Women’s Day.
To foster strength and solidarity among all women, Aesop presents its inaugural Women’s Library – in two of its signature stores in Singapore this April 20 – 24, 2022. Within the course of five days, all the shelves of Aesop VivoCity and Aesop Marina Bay Sands will be cleared of their products and will be filled with books that are predominantly authored by Southeast Asian writers who are identified as women and allies.
The well-curated selection is composed of recommendations from four collaborating publishing houses that champion local literary voices. It sprawls in genre and spirit – from the emerging voices of seasoned authors, like Pooja Nansi, Melissa De Silva, Amanda Chong, Stephanie Chan, and Annaliza Bakri, that has changed the face of short stories, novels, and poetry.
Visiting customers are free to wander in the ephemeral library and leave with a complimentary book of choice – for free. Aesop has purchased over 50 titles from Math Paper Press, Epigram, Ethos Books, and Sea Breeze Books to support local independent publishers and booksellers in Singapore.
To further nurture the reading experience of the visitors, an audio collage will be broadcasted in the two signature stores. These will also be available to listen to online. The mix is a soundscape created to coincide with International Women’s Day. It features recorded messages from colleagues and collaborators: of Asian women and allies sharing stories of affection, wisdom, and the multifaceted nature of womanhood. Aesop is also collaborating with Singaporean artist, Weish, for the iteration of Sounds of sisterhood. The renowned musician, composer, and writer is known for incorporating a layered landscape of live loops, vocals, and experimental instrumentation into her music.
Tag along with your book lover friends and visit Aesop’s Women’s Library at Aesop Marina Bay and VivoCity from April 20 – 24. You may also discover in advance the wide range of selections and indulge in the full Sounds of sisterhood mix at aesop.com now!
