This Decommissioned MRT has Turned into a Co-living Hotel in Singapore

Sharing is caring!

Train Pod @ one-north is set to open for bookings in the second half of 2025.

Sometimes it’s about the destination. Sometimes it’s the activities, the food, or the cultural exposure. But most of the time? It’s the experience—the stories we collect, the places that feel different, and the memories that stick long after the trip ends. These moments shape why and how we travel—and yes, that includes where we stay.

Singapore boasts a stunning skyline, a vibrant food scene, and endless adventures. Now, you can add something even more exciting to your itinerary: a train hotel. That’s right. A local team is transforming a decommissioned MRT train into a co-living space where guests can actually stay. And it’s opening in late 2025.

Here’s What You Need to Know About this Co-living Train Hotel at JTC’s LaunchPad

Train Pod @ one-north is exactly what it sounds like—a repurposed MRT train car turned boutique micro-hotel. Located in JTC’s LaunchPad, it mixes sustainability, nostalgia, and smart city living.

Train Pod First MRT Hotel In Singapore Opening In 2025

Usually, we see trains as transport from point A to B. But what happens when they reach the end of the line? Local startup Tiny Pod saw opportunity where others saw scrap. They’re already known for converting shipping containers into cozy hotels. Now, they’re giving new life to a retired Kawasaki-Nippon Sharyo C751B MRT car, which served Singapore from 2000 to 2024.

The train houses eight compact suites. Each room includes air conditioning, WiFi, and bunk beds. Don’t expect a glossy makeover—the original MRT charm is still there. Think vintage seating, preserved control panels, and a cool, nostalgic vibe.

And it’s not just about aesthetics. Outside the pod, there’s a fully functional co-living setup, with shared spaces like an outdoor kitchen, coin-operated laundry, and vending machines for snacks and drinks. Even the outdoor dining area stays on theme, with seating made from actual MRT parts and bike racks for the eco-minded explorer.

Why Sustainability is at the Heart of Train Pod

Speaking of eco, sustainability is also a huge part of the mission here. Tiny Pod’s founder, Mr. Seah Liang Chiang, explained it best: in a world where travelers care more and more about conscious choices, pop-up hotels like this are paving the way for experiences that are both planet-friendly and profitable. “By transforming underutilized spaces into unique accommodation experiences, we unlock new revenue streams and minimize our environmental footprint.”

Technology adds another layer of charm to this co-living hotel by enhancing the overall guest experience. Train Pod features smart locks by Igloohome, uses crowd management tools from Ailytics, and offers self-check-in systems by Vouch, complete with facial recognition for added security. It blends smart city vibes with boutique hotel style—everything you’d want for a stay that’s seamless and Instagram-worthy.

You’ll find the Train Pod parked at the car park next to Block 69 Ayer Rajah Crescent, just a 10-minute walk from one-north MRT. Bookings are set to be open to the public later this year.

So, if you’re on the hunt for a stay that’s a little unexpected, a little nostalgic, and a whole lot of cool, this might just be your next go-to. After all, why just ride the train when you can sleep in it?
