Sharing is caring!

Nominations are finally in—and guess who’s leading the pack? Kendrick Lamar, Lil Nas X, Jack Harlow, Harry Styles, and Doja Cat!

In just a month from now, the winners of the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards will finally be revealed. As announced this Tuesday, July 26, Kendrick Lamar, Jack Harlow, and Lil Nas X are leading the nominations with seven nods each. Following them with six nominations each are Doja Cat and Harry Styles, with Billie Eilish, Drake, Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, and Ed Sheeran each having five nominations for this year.

Both Lil Nas X and Harlow were nominated for their smash duet “Industry Baby” in five different categories. One of America’s most influential rappers, Kendrick Lamar, bagged not only one but two nominations for Best Cinematography for the music videos of his hit songs Family Ties and N95.

Interestingly, this year’s nominees are a great mix of veterans and up-and-comers. Madonna, Elton John, Daddy Yankee, Snoop Dogg, and Eminem were all nominated at least once, while this generation’s superstars, Olivia Rodrigo, Cardi B, Future, Young Thug, Nicki Minaj, Bad Bunny, and Lizzo, got nominated for their grandiose imagery.
