The Korean fine dining restaurant in the $295 million car showroom will serve dishes made with ingredients grown on an on-site smart farm.
Singapore is undeniably a food lover’s paradise, constantly buzzing with culinary innovation. With an array of choices, it’s no surprise the city is evolving into Asia’s food tech capital.
Joining the A-list of must-visit restaurants is the latest venture by Korean-American chef Corey Lee. This June, the San Francisco-based, three-Michelin-star chef is set to open ‘Na Oh,’ a dining experience that reimagines traditional Korean cuisine for the modern palate.
Satiate Your Palate: Inside Corey Lee’s Newest Restaurant, Na Oh
Like a perfectly curated menu, the collaboration between world-renowned chef Corey Lee and the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Centre Singapore is set to elevate Singapore’s dining scene. Helmed by the culinary maestro behind the three-Michelin-starred restaurant Benu in San Francisco, the newest restaurant to open in Singapore will explore traditional Korean cuisine through a modern lens.
Located in the S$400 million Hyundai Innovation Center Singapore in Jurong West, supporting research and development and showcasing Korean automotive manufacturing innovation, Na Oh marks Chef Corey Lee’s first project in Southeast Asia.
Translating to “moving from inside out” in Korean, Na Oh will serve modern interpretations of traditional Korean dishes, with ingredients sourced from an on-site two-story vertical smart farm. Robots handle planting, transplanting, and harvesting around 30kg of fresh produce daily, providing the restaurant with fresh crops such as ice plants, Romaine lettuce, Swiss chard, Japanese mustard greens, and kale—with chrysanthemums, nasturtiums, perillas, and marigolds ready for the next phase.
As the world’s first robotics smart farm open to visitors, Na Oh offers a unique and refined farm-to-table experience. Chef Lee believes that cooking traditional food doesn’t always mean relying on age-old techniques. Embracing technological advances is another way to deliver the best versions of traditional dishes.
Set to become one of Singapore’s cultural hubs for Korean cuisine, craft, and design, Na Oh will serve a prix fixe menu—a full meal at a set rate—with options for the main course based on modernized traditional Korean food (hansik). Currently, Chef Lee and his team are finalizing the Korean dishes on the menu, which they have meticulously developed specifically for this restaurant.
Want to live out your K-drama dreams or try out a new food experience? Stay tuned for the opening of Na Oh this June!
