The brand’s much-loved elixir now comes in a more evocative but no less iconic design. Stepping into a new chapter, everything changes except for the recipe.
Adding flavors to your drinking experience, Maison Cointreau introduces the all-new look of the iconic orange liqueur, Cointreau L’Unique. Now springing with a fresh and sophisticated design, the new Cointreau L’Unique bottle is the brand’s first significant reimagination in nearly 140 years.
An ode to its long-standing history, the bottle boasts a strikingly different design but still exudes its recognizable signature look. Taking a closer look into the bottle, one can notice how each detail pays homage to the 170-year history of the brand, further enhanced with elegance and craftsmanship. Now, the original model designed by Édouard Cointreau in 1885 has improved aesthetics and practicality of use.
Here’s What You Have to Know About the All-New Cointreau L’Unique!
A classic staple in over 500 cocktails for bartenders all over the world, Cointreau’s distinctive character is a result of the meticulous selection and harmony of the sweet and bitter orange essences combined to achieve that unique balance of zesty, fresh, and fruity notes.
Like its predecessor, which was first conceived in 1894 in Angers, France, L’Unique liqueur shares the same key ingredient, the orange, which is now highlighted on the label, accompanied by an illustration that was inspired by the first Cointreau distillery. Further highlighted, the entire label is summarized as “Harmonie d’esprit d’écorces d’oranges douces et amères” or “The art of harmonizing sweet and bitter orange peels.”
As Cointreau International Director Fanny Chtromberg puts it: “The Cointreau L’Unique bottle is iconic. We certainly wanted to modernize it, but above all we wanted to preserve its vintage codes and respect the allure imagined by Édouard Cointreau. We therefore drew on Cointreau’s genesis. Its origins in Angers; its know-how as Liquorist-Distiller; and its precious fruit, the orange. We are particularly proud of the work accomplished, a feat of creativity but also of design.”
Taking into account the environmental concerns of today, two-thirds of the new bottle is now made from recycled glass. Most importantly, this new revision stands four millimeters taller, which makes it even easier to grip yet remains the same in terms of weight and its carbon footprint for production.
Moreover, the new Cointreau L’Unique bottle has the addition of a QR code, which instantly leads you to an online experience catered to a guided exploration for the creation of the ultimate Margarita and other classic cocktails. Cointreau Celebrates the 75th Anniversary of the Margarita, Launches Margarita Challenge in Singapore
The year 2023 also marks the 75th anniversary of the Original Margarita, which was made with Cointreau, tequila, citrus, and, of course, salt. This cocktail staple has been a classic favorite among many individuals because of its ability to quench thirst. In fact, this served as a backbone for bartenders in creating their unique riffs on the classic, thus allowing them to experiment and showcase its versatility and diversity.
As part of its celebration, Alfred Cointreau, the sixth generation of the Cointreau family, presents The Orange Birthday Margarita, the perfect cocktail for all occasions that boasts of its zesty and festive twist on the cocktail.
On top of that, Cointreau also launched the third iteration of its global Margarita Challenge—a challenge to Singapore’s best bartenders to create a tipple that redefines the notion of the original Margarita. For this year, Ooi Foo Giap of Last Word emerged as the champion, alongside Jez Carreon of Employees Only and Rusell Chia of Nutmeg as the first and second runners-up, respectively.
Cointreau also debuts a special Cointreau Pool Party – French Revelry with Cointreau with 1-Altitude Coast at The Outpost Hotel in Sentosa this coming March 19.
