Honmoon Sealed: ‘Demon Hunters’ HUNTR/X’s ‘Golden’ Tops Billboard 100!

August 26, 2025

August 26, 2025

Sharing is caring!

HUNTR/X has made history as the first all-female group to hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 since Destiny’s Child, ending a two-decade drought with their smash single Golden. The hit track from Netflix’s animated KPop Demon Hunters just knocked Alex Warren’s Ordinary out of the top spot.

Still can’t get over HUNTR/X and the Saja Boys? Still stuck in an LSS spiral with Golden and Soda Pop on repeat? You’re definitely not alone. The hype train is still going full speed, and now it’s officially global. Golden hasn’t just sealed the Honmoon. It has also sealed the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100!

Yep, you read that right. The banger soundtrack to summer’s biggest pop moment since its release in June just claimed the top slot on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, bumping American singer Alex Warren’s Ordinary down from the throne.

Literally a Golden Moment for the HUNTR/X

Performed by Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, Golden is one of the standout tracks from Netflix’s animated hit KPop Demon Hunters.

In the movie, the K-pop girl group HUNTR/X, made up of Rumi, Zooey, and Mira, voiced by Arden Cho, Yoo Ji-young, and May Hong, lead double lives. By day, they’re idols with killer choreography; by night, they’re demon hunters protecting humanity by sealing the mystical Honmoon barrier.

Enter the Rival: The Saja Boys

But what is a good story without conflict, right? Trouble begins when a demon named Jinu creates a rival boy group—the Saja Boys. His goal is to weaken the Honmoon and unleash chaos. If he succeeds, demons could flood the human world. They would steal souls and spread supernatural havoc, led by the menacing Gwi-Ma’s forces.

While the story is pure fantasy, the music is very real, and it’s taking over playlists worldwide. KPop Demon Hunters has captured hearts across the board: kids humming Golden and Soda Pop, teens obsessing over the Saja Boys, and influencers flooding TikTok with dance challenges inspired by the film’s tracks.

That buzz has translated into history-making numbers. Golden is now the ninth K-pop–related track to top the Hot 100 and the first by female singers. It joins the ranks of Seven (2023) by BTS’s Jungkook and Like Crazy (2023) by BTS’s Jimin. And the film’s music domination doesn’t stop there. Saja Boys’ anthem Your Idol debuted strong and has already climbed to No. 8 on the Hot 100.

HUNTR/X’s chart-topping moment also breaks a two-decade streak: they’re the first all-female group to hit Billboard Hot 100 #1 in over 20 years, following Destiny’s Child’s Bootylicious, which reigned for two weeks in August 2001.

The Billboard Hot 100—which ranks songs in the U.S. based on streaming, radio airplay, and sales data—now officially includes HUNTR/X among its history-makers. Their single Golden debuted at No. 81 before climbing to 23, then 6, then 4, then 2… and finally landing that coveted #1.

From Streaming to the Big Screen: ‘Kpop Demon Hunters’ is Coming to Theaters!

With the soundtrack’s explosive success, Netflix is giving fans another way to experience the magic. KPop Demon Hunters will hit theaters for a limited run across the US and Canada on August 23 and 24. It’s the perfect chance to grab your friends, sing along to the songs, and enjoy the vibrant storytelling on a massive screen.

And now that you’ve made it this far, consider this your sign: queue up your playlist, press play on Golden, and sing it loud: “We’re goin’ up, up, up. It’s our moment. You know together we’re glowing. Gonna be… because gonna be golden.”
