Netflix is Dropping ‘Black Mirror’ Season 7 in 2025, Including Sequel to ‘USS Callister’

Confirmed: Black Mirror is poised to stimulate our minds once again next year as it prepares for Season 7. In the announcement made on Netflix’s official YouTube channel, series creator Charlie Brooker is slated to return, accompanied by executive producers Jessica Rhoades and Annabel Jones.

During Netflix’s See What’s Next Event in London, the teaser unveiled that the acclaimed episode USS Callister will be making a comeback. “USS Callister will return. Robert Daly is dead, but for the crew of the USS Callister, their problems are just beginning.”

Exploring novel perspectives on future scenarios and various societal conspiracies, Black Mirror delves into the potentially darker aspects of modern technology and the unsettling trajectories it could lead humanity towards. As a result, it has garnered significant viewership on Netflix, captivating audiences with its compelling and thought-provoking narratives since 2011.

One of the standout episodes in the series is the season premiere of Season 4, featuring the USS Callister storyline. To recall, the episode followed the story of Robert Daly, a programmer who utilized his colleague’s DNA to fabricate sentient digital clones. However, the situation turned dark when a newly hired employee, Nanette Cole, orchestrated a rebellion against their corrupt captain.

Penned by co-creators Charlie Brooker and William Bridges and directed by Toby Haynes, the episode featured a star-studded cast, including Jesse Plemons, Cristin Milioti, Jimmi Simpson, Michaela Coel, Billy Magnussen, Milanka Brooks, Osy Ikhile, and a brief cameo from Aaron Paul, who subsequently featured in his own Black Mirror installment in Season 6, titled Beyond the Sea.
