Miss Universe Singapore Now Welcomes Married Women, Mothers, and Divorcees

The competition is more than just a crown.

In a progressive step towards promoting inclusivity and diversity, Miss Universe Singapore has expanded its eligibility criteria to include married women, mothers, and divorcees. This change provides a bigger platform for women to share their stories and inspire their communities as leaders and role models.

Celebrating all facets of womanhood, starting this year, any Singaporean woman over 18, regardless of marital status, can apply for Miss Universe Singapore. Applicants must have lived in Singapore or been based there for at least six months before September 1, 2024, to join the annual beauty pageant.

The updated criteria, posted on the official Miss Universe Singapore website, now include removing the upper age limit, making the competition even more inclusive. However, a new height requirement has been introduced: participants must be at least 168 cm tall.

Miss Universe Singapore’s national director, Ms. Elaine Daly, stated, “This competition is more than just a crown. It is a platform to inspire and advocate for causes close to your heart. To all the aspiring Miss Universes in Singapore, my message is this: Believe in yourselves! Be bold, be passionate, and never shy away from using your voice. Work hard, embrace your individuality, and most importantly, have fun on this incredible journey.”

Miss Universe Singapore 2024 is organized by Beyond Entity, in collaboration with King Kong Production, led by Singaporean actor Mark Lee. Lee emphasizes that apart from amplifying their advocacies, the MUS platform also offers women the chance to make their mark in the entertainment industry, stating, “We are seeking not just beauty queens but future actresses as well, following in the footsteps of many renowned actresses who began their journeys as beauty queens.”

This year’s pageant winner will receive S$10,000 and represent Singapore at Miss Universe 2023 in Mexico this September.
