Sharing is caring!

The official roster is here, with ‘Oppenheimer’ taking the lead, closely followed by ‘Poor Things’.

From Golden Globes to Critics Choice, Oppenheimer maintains its dominance this award season, securing the lead with 13 nominations for the upcoming 2024 Oscars. In contrast, the summer blockbuster contender Barbie—which has garnered notable attention in various ceremonies—trails behind with eight nominations. Poor Things closely follows with 11 nominations, while Killers of the Moon secures 10 nods.

Despite the box office success of Barbie, director Greta Gerwig and actress Margot Robbie did not secure nominations in the Best Director and Best Actress in a Leading Role categories for the Oscars. Similarly, the musical adaptation of the 1982 book, The Color Purple, experienced limited recognition with only one nomination. Furthermore, noteworthy films of 2023 such as Saltburn, Air, All of Us Strangers, Wonka, and The Iron Claw faced complete omission, receiving zero nominations.

Scheduled to air live on ABC on March 10, 2024, the 96th Academy Awards will be held at the Dolby Theater at Ovation Hollywood. Jimmy Kimmel is set to host the event, marking his fourth time in this role.

Notably, the 2024 Oscar nomination has been gaining notice for its record-breaking feats. For one, Lily Gladstone, co-star of Leonardo DiCaprio, made a historic achievement as the first Native American to be nominated for Best Actress. Additionally, this edition confirms Martin Scorsese as the most nominated living movie director.
