Here’s a Sneak Peek of the Gods and Campers of Disney+’s ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’

Sharing is caring!

The series is Lance Reddick’s final project before passing away last March.

The long-anticipated quest kicks off at Camp Half-Blood on December 20. It’s been a decade of waiting since Logan Lerman’s The Lightning Thief (2011) and Sea of Monsters (2013) hit theaters, and now the demi-gods are finally back on set for the highly anticipated Disney+ Original series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Helmed by Rick Riordan himself, alongside John Steinberg and Dan Shotz, this series promises to remain true to the books, a stark contrast to the initial live-action adaptation, which received mixed reviews from critics and fans because of the movie’s quality. In fact, back in June 2020, Riordan candidly admitted he had not seen the two films, referring to them as “a mess” in a now-deleted tweet.

First Look at the Star-Studded Cast of ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’

Two months before the series’ official release, the Percy Jackson official account shared stills of various characters, including Walker Scobell, the breakout star from The Adam Project, who was first introduced by Rick Riordan earlier this year.

Among those introduced were the major gods, including John Wick’s Lance Reddick (Zeus), Toby Stephens (Poseidon), Jay Duplass (Hades), and Adam Copeland (Ares). There’s also Timothy Omundson (Hephaestus), Lin Manuel-Miranda (Hermes), Megan Mullaly (Alecto), Jessica Parker Kennedy (Medusa), Virginia Kull (Sally Jackson), Timm Sharp (Gabe Ugliano), and Suzanne Cryer (Echidna).

Apart from them, fans also got to see stills of mainstays Leah Sava (Annabeth Chase), Aryan Simhadri (Grover Underwood), Jason Mantzoukas (Dionysus), Glynn Turman (Chiron), Charlie Bushnell (Luke Castellan), and Dior Goodjohn (Clarissa La Rue).

Penned by Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson chronicles the (mis)adventures of a young, half-human, half-god son of Poseidon who discovers his true identity and is sent to Camp Half-Blood for training. Disney+’s adaptation is a reboot aiming to provide a more comprehensive narrative based on the original material. As the author puts it: “If you’re a fan of the books or even just a good adventure, you are going to love the show.”

Percy Jackson and the Olympians is set to grace screens on December 20, 2023, exclusively on Disney+. The highly anticipated series will kick off with a two-episode premiere, after which viewers can expect weekly releases to continue the journey. The gods, demi-gods, and epic quests are about to come to life like never before—so make sure to mark your calendars!
