A Three-Part Series Spin-Off of ‘John Wick’ is Coming This September

Delving deeper into the intricate universe of John Wick, Peacock has unveiled the highly anticipated trailer for The Continental: From the World of John Wick. Comprising three riveting installments, this prequel series intricately unravels the captivating backstory of the renowned assassins’ haven in the blockbuster franchise.

Set in the 70s—complete with a pulsating soundtrack of Donna Summer hits and reminiscent Studio 54 club scenes—the prequel, like its predecessor, weaves a tale of relentless gunfights and shadowy encounters that bring life to the world of assassins amidst the neon-lit streets of New York. As skillfully narrated, at the heart of the series is Winston’s brash undertaking to become the steward of The Continental Hotel.

In the official synopsis released by Peacock:

“The three-part event will explore the origin behind the iconic hotel-for-assassins centerpiece of the John Wick universe through the eyes and actions of a young Winston Scott, as he’s dragged into the Hellscape of 1970’s New York City to face a past he thought he’d left behind. Winstone charts a deadly course through the hotel’s mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the hotel where he will eventually take his future throne.”

As featured in the trailer, the miniseries is led by veteran actor Mel Gibson. He plays the ruthless kingpin Cormac alongside Colin Woodell’s Winston Scott, who was played by Ian McShane in the original franchise. They are joined by stars Ayomide Adegun (Charon), Peter Greene (Uncle Charlie), Ben Robson (Frankie), Hubert Point-Du Jour (Miles), Jessica Allain (Lou), Mishel Prada (KD), Jeremy Bobb (Mayhew), and Nhung Kate (Yen).

The Continental is overseen by a team comprised of Greg Coolidge, Kirk Ward, and Shawn Simmons, who also contribute writing expertise to Ken Kristensen (Happy), Chris Collins (John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum), and Derk Kolstad (John Wick Series) to shape the intricate layers of the series. Other creative minds working behind the scenes include Chad Stahelski, Derek Kolstad, David Leitch, Marshall Persinger, Paul Wernick, and Rhett Reese.
