Sharing is caring!

On their 10th anniversary, two members of the sensational K-pop group will release solo documentary films on June 17.

Dear ARMYs, get ready for an unforgettable cinematic experience this summer as theaters around the world show the highly anticipated documentaries J-Hope in the Box and Suga: Road to D-Day. The captivating breakout journeys of BTS members will be released in time for the commemoration of the group’s debut.

Initially premiered on Disney+ and Weverse last February, J-Hope in the Box documents the captivating 200-day journey behind J-Hope’s debut solo album. In an interview, the South Korean rapper and singer-songwriter said: “Since I’m the first one to go solo, I feel a sense of responsibility, and there’s definitely some pressure as well. This album is really meaningful to me, and mostly, I feel proud and excited [that] it’s coming out.”

As described by IN THE BOX: Over the course of the documentary, viewers will be given a closer look at the creative process of the artist during the album’s preparation process, as well as front-row seats to J-Hope’s epic 2022 Lollapalooza performance and the ‘Jack in the Box’ listening party.” To recall, he became the first South Korean to have headlined the main stage at a major American music festival.

Meanwhile, Suga: Road to D-Day first arrived on Disney+ and Weverse last April. This chronicles Suga’s solo musical journey, including his travels around the world to look for inspiration for his solo album, which was named under his alternate moniker, Agust D.

As per Min Yoon-gi, better known as Suga: “The stories that I have told as Agust D are heavier than those of Suga, right? I don’t have much energy left in me to continue to tell those heavier stories, because I poured out my soul in this album. But after a couple of mounts, maybe I’ll have some more stories to tell as August D, or I can put stuff out as Yunki, or release things as Suga. No one knows what’s possible in the future.”

Based on the stories shared, Road to D-Day includes his performances in Seoul, Tokyo, Pyeongchang, Chuncheon, Las Vegas, Malibu, and San Francisco. As explained in the film, it was his first time walking down such a road—and despite being alone, he felt truly excited. Throughout the documentary, BTS fans will also get an up-close-and-personal moment with Suga as he discusses his writer’s block with other musicians and delves deep into his most traumatic memories as a sort of inspiration for his latest songs.

Here’s What to Look Forward to with J-Hope and Suga’s Upcoming Solo Documentaries

As per Trafalgar Releasing CEO Marc Allen: “We are excited to continue our long-standing working relationship with the HYBE team for the theatrical release of J-Hope and Suga’s solo documentaries, following our recent record-breaking successes with BTS projects, ‘BTS Permission to Dance on Stage-Seoul: Live Viewing’ and ‘BTS: Yet to Come in Cinemas’. It’s great to bring their stories to the big screen in celebration of BTS’ 10th anniversary, a must-see experience for moviegoers around the world.”

Tickets for the documentaries J-Hope in the Box and Suga: Road to D-Day will be made available starting May 17 at the BTS Solo Documentaries website. Don’t miss this chance to walk together with your favorite BTS members and the journeys they’ve been through to provide you with the best musical experience. Show your love and celebrate the 10th anniversary of the group on June 17.
