This calls for a celebration! Singapore’s vibrant dining scene continues to leave a mark around the world – now with seven restaurants included in Asia’s Best 50 Restaurants for 2022.

It’s no secret how food-obsessed the island-city state is. With a variety of cuisines served – from classic Chinese spots to the World’s best restaurants down to the local cafés and bars – Singapore is truly one of the most exciting culinary destinations in the world. There’s always something around the corner that would satisfy whatever it is that you are craving!

Singapore’s reputation when it comes to dining has attracted many critically acclaimed chefs and internationally renowned restaurants. Some have braved to enter the city’s buzzing culinary scene – adding flavors to its progress, innovation, and rich cultural diversity.

Singapore Claims 7 Spots in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants for 2022

This year, seven restaurants in Singapore made it to the list of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022. Revealed last March 29, 2022, the live event sponsored by S. Pellegrino & Acqua Panna brought together the best chefs and restauranteurs from the different parts of the continent for the prestigious awarding ceremony.

Bagging the first spot for this year is Tokyo’s very own Den – which has been consistently moving up from the 37th spot since its debut in 2016. The restaurant replaced Hong Kong’s The Chairman which dropped to fifth place this year.

The seven Singapore restaurants that made it to Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants for 2022 are as follows:

Odette (#8)

Coveting this year’s Gin Mare Art of Hospitality Award, Odette seamlessly combines timeless French fine-dining experience with world-class hospitality. Helmed by Chef Julien Royer, the restaurant sources the highest quality raw ingredients from artisans around the world – across Asia, Australia, and Europe – to bring out the rich umami of every food served.

Meta (#20)

Regarded as Asia’s American Express One to Watch in 2021, Meta’s bold combination of French techniques in cooking, freshly-sourced ingredients, and Japanese influences make it one of the best places to go for dates or hanging out with friends.

Les Amis (#23)

True to its name, Les Amis (French translation of ‘friends’) gives the familiar warmth felt when hanging out with people who bring you much comfort and joy. Chef Sebastien Lepinoy’s signature dishes like the cold angel hair pasta with kombu, caviar, and black truffle, and line-caught sea bass from Saint Gilles Croix de Vie in France served with a traditional Americaine sauce will surely make every conversation lasting and worth savoring.

Zén (#37)

Singapore’s stablemate to Stockholm restaurant Frantzén offers an exciting procession of dishes ranging from Nordic snacks, grilled turbot and razor clams served with goat’s butter, crispy potato roll crowned with Vendace roe, red onion rings, and dill, followed by a parade of eight mains headlined by the signature ‘Grand Tradition French Toast’. The restaurant’s very own Tristin Farmer has been trained by the renowned Gordon Ramsay and Jason Atherton in London, Hong Kong, and Dubai.

Labyrinth (#40)

Taking Singapore’s local fare into an avant-garde spin, Labyrinth has shown an impressive commitment to its environmental and social responsibilities when sourcing its ingredients. Chef-owner Han Li Guang’s signature dishes allow diners to discover a new range of flavors and taste never deemed possible.

Burnt Ends (#41)

Founded by chef-owner Dave Pynt, Burnt Ends offers a modern take on the traditional barbecue experience by serving modern Australian barbecue complemented with carefully-curated wines and spirits to bring out the fun and relaxing atmosphere in Singapore’s Dempsey Hill. Aside from making it into Asia’s Best Restaurant, Burnt Ends has also been awarded a One-Michelin star in 2018.

Cloudstreet (#44)

Presenting a progressively sophisticated approach to the gastronomic scene of Singapore, Cloudstreet draws its menu from the rich cultures and influences of Chef Naleendra’s professional training experiences in Australia, alongside his Sri Lankan ancestry. His signature dish, Western Australian marron served in a thick pool of Sri Lankan yellow curry flecked with millets and topped with celery and fennel, concretizes the restaurant’s culinary philosophy of turning traditional dishes into a contemporary twist without disregarding the chef’s motherland.
