Get ready to light up your nights as the event makes a dazzling return, transforming the Marina Bay waterfront into a dreamy playground of color, creativity, and conscious living.
There’s just something about lights. The moment they start glowing, everything feels a little less heavy. That draining, taxing day? Suddenly, it doesn’t feel so bad. There’s a shift in the air, a soft reminder that even when life gets overwhelming, little moments of magic still exist.
And guess what’s bringing the glow back to Singapore in a big way? That’s right! i Light Singapore is making its much-anticipated return this 2025! This year’s edition promises to be more immersive, more sustainable, and seriously more fun.
From May 29 to June 21, the city’s iconic waterfront will once again be lit up by 17 light art installations by 20 brilliant artists from around the world. Expect glowing gardens, interactive art, music under the stars, and even a giant piano. And yes, the beloved GastroBeats village is back too, bringing eats, beats, and chill vibes.
Here’s Everything You Need to Know About i Light Singapore 2025
Starting from 7:30 pm to 11 pm (with extended hours on weekends), Asia’s leading sustainable light festival returns. It will illuminate not just Marina Bay but, for the first time, new locations along the Singapore River and at Raffles Place. The city will come alive with color, creativity, and community. Whether you’re unwinding after work or planning a weekend hangout, this is the perfect spot. Pause, play, and let the lights inspire you.
Organized by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and presented by UOB, the festival has always had sustainability at its core. Since 2022, each edition has been themed around a color from the light spectrum. This year’s theme, “To Gather,” draws inspiration from the color red, which is a nod to Singapore’s 60th birthday, highlighting passion, unity, and collective energy. It’s a call to come together—people, ideas, dreams—to create a brighter, greener tomorrow.
The main festival ground at Marina Bay is where the actual magic begins. One highlight not to miss is Take a Walk Through the Meadow with Me by Megan Tan and Tan Shao Xuan from Singapore. This dreamy installation features a glowing garden of 300 flowers, made entirely from repurposed acrylic waste. As you walk through, the blooms respond to your presence with twinkling lights and music. It’s giving futuristic garden vibes with a side of sustainability.
Craft, Music, and Light Collide
And if you’re into crafting, don’t miss the DIY charm workshop at the Design Your Own Meadow Memory, where you can upcycle offcuts into personalized keepsakes that are cute, conscious, and totally Instagram-worthy!
Music lovers, you’re in for a treat too. Head over to Marina Bay Sands’ Event Plaza for Piano Walk by & Amigo (Australia), where a giant piano plays an original tune every 10 minutes. Even better? Your footsteps become part of the melody as you move across it. That’s literally music you can walk on.
Other installations pushing the creative envelope include Elementary by Tonoptik at Clifford Square, where your movements reshape a digital ocean landscape. Over at the Red Dot Design Museum, Urban Oracle by Italy’s Ultravioletto features 24 illuminated letters floating above the water. Ah, screams mysterious, poetic, and totally surreal.
This year’s expansion to the Singapore River brings a new visual treat—Reverse Waterfall by UxU Studio from Taiwan. It’s a mind-bending illusion of a waterfall flowing backward. Trippy and mesmerizing all at once. Meanwhile, Cavenagh Bridge will light up with Bridge of 1,000 Dreams, a collaboration between UOB and the DesignSingapore Council. It features glowing bamboo sticks that add a whimsical, futuristic flair. Both installations will stay up until July 20, giving you more time to take it all in.
Over at Raffles Place Park, you’ll find The Guardians by Australia’s Matthew Aberline and The Beautiful And Useful Studio. It’s a bold inflatable garden made from recycled materials and powered by solar energy.
South Beach and Satellite Exhibits
Not to be outdone, South Beach also returns as a satellite site. There, you’ll find Saulux by Splaces.studio, a meditative space where wind becomes light and sound, plus there’s also the This is Not a Screen, which is a clever piece that turns recycled electronics into kaleidoscopic art with a simple spin.
Now, if you think that’s all, you’re up for more surprises! The ever-popular GastroBeats is also back at Bayfront Event Space from May 29 to June 22, 4 pm to 11 pm daily. Live music, mouth-watering eats, cute pop-up shops, and pet-friendly hangout zones, all in one place. This year, a new activation called Let’s Trouble the Water introduces the quirky Jelilo characters, Captain Skull, One Eye, and Scarface, who will be leading the charge against marine pollution in the most entertaining way possible.
While GastroBeats may charge for select activities, the rest of the installations and experiences across i Light Singapore 2025 are totally free. So, whether you’re simply craving for a vibe, in need of a chill post-work escape, or just want a new backdrop for your photo dump, this festival has you covered.
See you under the lights?
