The most awaited night of the music industry finally took place after a three-month delay. Here’s the complete list of winners of the 64th Annual Grammy Awards and the trending highlights of the evening ceremony.
Held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Grammy Awards finally made an epic in-person comeback in a night paraded by dazzling stars shining brightly on the red carpet accompanied by a spectacle of unforgettable performances, stints, cameos, and triumphs. Trevor Noah came back to host once again the ceremony and jokingly reminded himself to ‘keep people’s names out of mouth’ – pertaining to the controversial happenings of the Oscars.
Grammy 2022 Highlights
Marking his name in the Grammy history, jazz pianist Jon Batiste got the greatest number of nominations for the night – with 11 nominations and 4 Grammy Awards won, including the most coveted Album of the Year Award. Batiste came to fame with his debut album, We Are, which became the soundtrack of the highly-acclaimed Disney-Pixar animated film, Soul.
Trending with her intimate moment with BTS’s V, Olivia Rodrigo bagged the Best Solo Performance and Best Pop Solo Performance Award. She was nominated in all top four categories aside from three others. The iconic American rock band, Foo Fighters, went home with three Grammy Awards as well; while the R&B Duo, Silk Sonic, composed of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak took home all four awards that they were nominated for.
The awarding ceremony became even more emotional when the videotaped speech from Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky was played prompting everyone to recall the ongoing war happening in the country. He urged musicians to fill the silence that ruined cities and killed people with music: “What is opposite to music? The silence of ruined cities and killed people. Fill the silence with your music. Fill it today to tell our story.” His address was followed by John Legend’s hymnlike new song, “Free” which was accompanied by Ukrainian artist, Mika Newton, poet Lyuba Ykimichiuk, and bandura player, Siuzanna Iglidan who is also from Ukraine.
