In case no one has told you yet, you too deserve a break. You may have proven yourself to be strong, independent, and competent in whatever you are doing, but like everybody else, you also have to reward yourself Ė most particularly this Womenís Month.
The month of March is designated worldwide as Womenís Month. This is not just another month to hustle and beat the deadline. With so many things to deal with every day Ė from life at home and at work Ė most women have already forgotten how to take good care of themselves.
According to research, around 53% of women are already experiencing burnout, especially in the time of the pandemic. Thatís why itís important to take some time to relax. Because without you knowing, underneath those tasks you have been seamlessly doing, you might already be on the edge of breaking down.
Celebrate Womenís Month: Take Time for Self-Care
For todayís read, we have listed some of the things that you can do to celebrate this special month dedicated for you. Again, you deserve this.
When was the last time that youíve given yourself that TLC? Youíve been too occupied with long lists of to-dos that youíve forgotten to take good care of yourself. Donít let this month end without you pampering yourself. Go to the salon, enjoy the spa, have fun shopping, apply those skincare products that you have been hoarding, and donít hesitate to dress up even without any occasion.
Learn to say ďno.Ē
One of the many reasons why you feel so exhausted is because you have been allowing people to think that you can do everything that they ask you to do. Remember: not because you can, you have to. Learn to reevaluate how you deal with things at home and at work. Set boundaries. Know that you can outsource some of the tasks. Itís okay to delegate things.
Go out with your friends.
With restrictions eased now, itís about time to gather your friends and talk about life updates in person. Share a meal in your favorite restaurant in Singapore, have some coffee at your most preferred cafť, or go on a picnic! Do some fun activities to reconnect with them. You can also opt for a sleepover and watch together with the latest movies on available streaming sites.
Go on a digital detox.
Allow yourself to eat real food for breakfast and not emails, meetings updates, and social media toxicity. Going on a digital detox does not necessarily mean staying away from your phone all day long. Set some boundaries. Notify important contacts about your plan of going offline for some hours or days so that you donít also get anxious about the important things that you might miss. Another alternative is changing your weekend morning routine. Instead of scrolling on your newsfeed, you can go jogging outside, enjoying your morning coffee on the balcony, or simply reading that book that has been long collecting dust in the shelf.
Clean and redecorate your room.
While cleaning may feel like a lot like work, this can actually be good destressing activity. Come to think of it, you can unleash your creativity and rearrange or redecorate your own area. You can give it a fresh look; thereby, giving you a revitalizing energy to start a new day.
Itís also about time to go over your wardrobe and let go of those that may not fit your style anymore. This can totally help you prioritize what to shop next and share what you donít need any more to others.
Go on a vacation.
After two long years, itís about time that you go out of your house and go on a trip. Not necessarily somewhere far and expensive, but a quick drive away from home, an afternoon by the beach, and an overnight stay in the mountains or resort can surely replenish all the energies that you have spent from multitasking.
Give yourself sometime to rest.
Whoís not sleep-deprived these days? With world issues impacting our day-to-day lives and work demands to attend to, getting that eight-hour sleep has become a luxury that not everyone can afford. If you canít accommodate a trip, a visit to the spa, or go to a shopping spree, at least give yourself enough time to sleep. Allow your body to recover and rest well. More than anyone else, you deserve it.
This month of March, remember to put yourself first. Allow yourself to take a break and breathe from all the worries and pressures of the city. You are strong. You are independent. You deserve a reward Ė not just on Womenís Month but every day of your life.
