Recognized as one of the most sustainable brands in the world, Moncler once again stands true to its commitment to protecting the people and the planet. This 2022, Moncler released the second installment of its Born to Protect Collection Ė pledging to be a fur-free and plastic-free outwear line.
The second collection of Monclerís Born to Protect is made from a variety of lower impact materials. Now, the project extends beyond jackets and has moved towards a full range of ready-to-wear garments and accessories for men, women, and children.
Particularly, the materials used for this yearís Moncler collection include recycled nylon and polyester, organic cotton, and other materials such as wool and down sourced accordingly to specific sustainability standards.
Not only that, Monclerís vow towards sustainability is also reflected in its product packaging. For all of its collection, Moncler will now use shopping bags and gift boxes that are made from combined recycled paper and paper coming from responsibly managed forests. In addition, the product packaging handles will be made from organic cotton, while garment covers will be sourced from recycled bottles.
Furthermore, Moncler also announced its total phase-out of the use of fur in all of its collections. The company will already stop sourcing fur this 2022, and the last of its collection to feature fur will be Fall-Winter 2023. This is to stay consistent with its ongoing commitment to responsible business practices, as well as to build the brandís constructive and long-term engagement with the Italian animal rights organization, LAV, as a representative of the Fur Free Alliance.
What started as a clear mission to protect the people from the cold has now evolved into a serious commitment towards protecting the people and the planet. Despite the monumental task that goes with this commitment, Moncler remains firm with its campaign, ďWe used to climb mountains. Now, we must move them.Ē
In its five-year Sustainability Plan, Moncler targets to include 50% of nylon used in its collection to be sustainable by 2025, zero single-use conventional plastics and 100% use of renewable energy by 2023, science-based CO2 emission reduction by 2030, and protection of 100,000 people in need from the cold by next year.
To accompany the second Born to Protect Collection, a visual campaign and short film will also be released to pay homage to Monclerís mountain DNA and commitment to our shared future.
