Scenery drops their 3rd single, “For You”

Sharing is caring!

As the battle against the pandemic continues, many artists–stuck at home–are given the golden opportunity to tap into their creative side, composing songs and even releasing ones. While 2020 had been incredibly challenging for most of us, we cannot deny the fact that music has always been a constant, accompanying us through our ups and downs. And as we embark on another year looking for something serene yet would give a total nostalgic experience, we don’t have to look very far. Singapore and Melbourne-based Indie band SCENERY, has released their third single, “For You,” last January 8, 2021.

From introspective night drives home to start-stop relationships, For You explores the pains of distance and longing. The song blends ethereal guitar lines, crooning vocals, bold rhythm, and bass section to create a warm-toned space of contemplative reprieve. Accompanying the song is a Wong Kar Wai inspired video. The collaboration with Singaporean director Daniel Chan (Dan Visuals) paints a blurry night drive home, following the ponderings of a pensive salaryman.

Formed during their university days in Melbourne, Singaporean band uses reverb-driven sounds and slow swells to capture the nuanced experiences of transition, place, and passage of time. Weaving inspiration from the likes of The Paper Kites, Raveena, and Rhye, Scenery looks to mold a tracklist that would be a time capsule of their young adulthood.

‘Consisting of Ryan Lim, Kane Loveday and Jeremy Chua (midst), the trio’s self-produced tracks seek to capture the nuanced experiences of transition, place and wistful retrospection.’

As part of their upcoming EP, Scenery’s two releases have garnered over 50K listeners across more than 80 countries in the last year. Both have been added to more than 4000 playlists, including Rising 65 on Spotify and New Music Friday Singapore, while also being featured across different cities including, Perth (Fremantle Radio), Melbourne (Radio Monash), and Singapore (Singapore Biennale 2020). In 2019, Mudfest, an Arts competition at the University of Melbourne, presented the Scenery with Innovation Award under the music category.
