Two days of intense matchups will put the endurance of the world’s most tenacious rugby teams to the ultimate test, as they compete to be crowned champion at the HSBC World Rugby Sevens 2020.
An annual sporting extravaganza, the World Rugby Sevens sees diehard fans and supporters turning up in droves to cheer on the sport’s greatest gladiators on their road to glory. Singapore plays host to the eighth of the World Rugby Sevens’ 10 legs and is the only Southeast Asian nation to hold this exciting event.
Last year’s competition drew 57,000 visitors and culminated in a nail-biting match that saw South Africa edging out Fiji with a 20-19 score.
With Ireland joining the scrum at this year’s showdown, the competition looks to be heating up, with 16 teams in total vying for victory.
Come in your flashiest costumes to support your favourite team—after all, Sevens fans are known for their love of the wild and wacky. Coming with little ones? They’ll be happily occupied in the kids’ fun zone in the Festival Village, which feature roving performers, face painters, rugby-themed and fairground games, interactive photo booths, stage performances and merchandise stores.
Off the pitch, it’s thrills and spills galore in the city to keep fans happily occupied. Mingle with rugby legends at the fringe events during the day, and party your heart out at various venues across the island at night. If live music’s your jam, be sure to check out the Splash party at the National Stadium, which features electrifying performances by our talented local artists.
Excited to get in on the action? Purchase your one or two-day passes—or better yet, nab a family package and get all your loved ones in on the action!
